As the designated disability service providers, the Counseling Services staff coordinates the provision of appropriate and reasonable academic accommodations and support services for any qualified student with a properly documented disability.
The University of Evansville is strongly committed to providing an accessible and supportive environment for students with disabilities, and is committed to treating all individuals in a fair and equitable manner. It is the policy and practice of the University of Evansville to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Under these laws, no otherwise qualified individual with a disability will be denied access to participation in courses, programs, services, or activities at the University of Evansville.
To ensure access for all students with disabilities, we work closely with the student and the University community to develop and coordinate the implementation of appropriate accommodations. Accommodations vary depending on the nature of the disability and are determined on an individual basis.
Examples of possible accommodations include:
- Reduced distraction area for tests
- Extended time on tests
- Note takers
- Use of spell check
- Priority seating
- Additional accommodations designed to meet individual needs
