Roger Pieroni earned his B.A. in American civilization from the Université de Clemont II (France) and his M.A. and Ph.D. in French literature from Indiana University. Dr. Pieroni teaches French language classes at all levels,| courses on French and Francophone literatures and civilizations, and translation. His research interests deal with modern fiction, post-colonial issues, and foreign language program assessment. Dr. Pieroni is also a professional translator.

P. Lorena Andueza has a Ph.D. and a M.A. degree in Hispanic Linguistics from The Ohio State University. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Philology in University of Deusto (Spain) and a Master’s degree from the| University of Antonio Nebrija (Spain) in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language. Her research centers on Hispanic Pragmatics, Semantics and Syntax. She teaches Spanish and Hispanic Linguistics courses in the department of Foreign Languages, and courses in Language Acquisition and Methodology in the department of Education.

Ann Baker, assistant professor of Spanish, earned her B.A. degree in Spanish Education from Purdue University and her M.A. from the University of Evansville. She has been on the faculty at UE for over twenty-five years. A member| of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and Phi Sigma Iota, the international foreign language honor society, she has served as the faculty advisor for Phi Sigma Iota since the chapter was established at UE. In 2000, she was the recipient of the Exemplary Teacher Award given by the General Board of Higher Education of the United Methodist Church. She also received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

A native of Evansville, Cindy Crowe, instructor of Spanish, earned both her B.A. and her M.A. from UE. She holds a professional, life license in Spanish and has previously taught English at a business college in Mexico and worked| as a Spanish and English language trainer for a global business. Since 2005, she has taught Spanish at UE. She serves on the board of a local nonprofit and on the vestry for Trinity Anglican Church and is also a member of the Newburgh History Club.

Fusae Ekida is an assistant professor of Japanese, who is running the Japanese Studies Program. She is originally from Yamaguchi, Japan. With a M.A. in Foreign Language Education at the Ohio State University, she had taught Japanese| language at a various universities including Purdue University and University of Michigan. She earned a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Japanese Literature at the University of Washington. She has a wide range of research interests, starting from historical linguistics to Japanese classical literature.

Cathy Fraley earned a B.A. in French and English from the College of Saint Benedict and an M.A. in French literature from Indiana University. She also received a Diplôme d’études de civilisation française from the Sorbonne and| a Diplôme de français des affaires from the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris. Her academic interests include courses in language, business French, and French culture. She is also a Southwestern Indiana Master Gardener and works on various garden and community education projects throughout the year.

Jing Minyan is a visiting instructor of Chinese at UE for the 2012-2013 academic year. Her home university is Zhejiang University in China, where she is an associate professor with the Institute of Applied Linguistics. She received her BA in English| from Hangzhou Normal University and MA in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Zhejiang University. She has taught courses at Zhejiang University in College English, Video, Listening and Speaking, A Brief Survey of English-speaking Countries and Chinese to undergraduates there. Her current research interest is Second Language Acquisition. She has also provided professional services as a translator to the Zhejiang Provincial government. She has published six papers in Chinese journals, she is the editor in chief of three textbooks and co-author of eighteen reference books for English learning and teaching.

John Meredig received his Ph.D. in Slavic Linguistics with a minor in Germanic Linguistics from the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign in 1997. He has Masters degrees in Slavic Linguistics from Illinois and in Russian from| Middlebury College. He holds a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was later certified to teach high school German. His chief interests are historical/comparative linguistics and the evolution of language, and he has done numerous translations from Russian to English. Other major interests include ecology, birding, lepidoptery, and sylviculture.

M. Chris Mohn earned her Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from the University of Kansas, her M.A. in Spanish Literature from Wichita State University, and her B.A. in Foreign Languages from Fort Hays State University. She is an Associate Professor of Spanish| at the University of Evansville, where she teaches all levels of language, literature and culture. Her research focuses on 20th and 21st century peninsular narrative, in particular the works of the contemporary Spanish author Álvaro Pombo. In 2010 she received the Dean’s Teaching Award and was designated a University of Evansville Global Scholar for the year 2010-11.

Lesley C. Pleasant received her A.B. from Dartmouth and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. Her interests include German theater/drama, the divided Germany (specifically, Sarah Kirsch, Heiner Mueller, and Wende authors and| filmmakers) and film (especially Bergfilme and postnational Heimatfilme). She teaches all levels of German language, literature and culture at the University of Evansville.

Diana Rodríguez Quevedo received her Ph.D. in Spanish – Latin American Literature from the University of Toronto. Prior to coming to the University of Evansville, she taught at the University of Toronto and was a Visiting Assistant Professor at| Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University for one year. She has taught a wide variety of courses that include elementary to advanced Spanish, Latin American culture and civilization, Spanish conversation, business Spanish, and Latin America literature. Her research focuses on non-canonical texts of Latin America, such as testimonio narratives and songs. Her dissertation examined texts dealing with the phenomenon of forced internal displacement in the 20th and 21st centuries in Colombia.
