UE Microloan Program

The UE Microloan Program is an experiential student-run program administered by the Institute for Banking and Finance in the University of Evansville Schroeder School of Business and funded by Old National Bank. Its mission is to support the launch and growth of Women and Minority-Owned Businesses (W/MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), and Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDB) in the Evansville area, while engaging UE students through real-world applications of the concepts and skills taught in UE's Schroeder School of Business.

The ACE 3 initiative will help provide support and counsel to local emerging entrepreneurs along with learning opportunities for students through engagement with local business professionals and exposure to business practices and challenges." The primary objective of this program is to provide a small group of students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in security research, asset valuation, asset allocation, and portfolio management, as fiduciary fund managers of an actual $235,000 investment portfolio. Based on their research and knowledge, student fund managers make their own buy and sell decisions, defend their positions in the market, and report on the fund's performance.

For some of the students involved, investing $100,000 in real money for five very real clients will be breathtaking. As much as the technical skills students will pick up, perhaps the most benefit will come from learning how to interact with the owners of the fund." Donaldson Capital Management President Mike Hull

Client Testimony

"The ACE3 program turned things around at a time when I was really struggling with my business. The financial boost helped me expand our services and improve our marketing. The process of applying for the loan and brushing up my business plan clarified my direction and goals for the business, and the ongoing assistance and oversight have kept me on track. The students and professionals I've worked with have been insightful and supportive throughout the process."
