University of Evansville Division I NCAA Certification

Dear Friends of the University of Evansville:

During the 2003-04 academic year, the University of Evansville will be engaged in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Self-Study Certification. Certification by the NCAA demonstrates the University's fundamental commitment to integrity in intercollegiate athletics and our compliance to the four fundamental operating principles that define the requirements for Division I programs. During the certification process, we will make available all information relative to the self-study. This web site is one avenue to ensure that you are involved and kept informed of all developments.

In addition to the Steering Committee, four subcommittees have been appointed to complete our self-study report. These subcommittees correspond to the four basic operating principles: Governance and Commitment to Rules Compliance; Academic Integrity; Fiscal Integrity; and Equity, Welfare and Sportsmanship. Each subcommittee will detail their findings, which will then be submitted to the NCAA. Once complete, these reports will be available for your review.

For the past 25 years, Division I athletics has been an integral part of the University of Evansville, the city of Evansville, and the Tri-State region. As we look to the University's future, certification by the NCAA will ensure an athletics program that remains academically, athletically, and fiscally strong. I encourage you to become involved in the certification process by exploring this web site and sending your comments to the e-mail address below.

Thank you for your interest in the University's NCAA Self-Study Certification.

Sincerely,

Stephen G. Jennings
President
