FOUNDERS DAY 2007
The 153rd Founders Day was celebrated on the University of Evansville campus Sunday, February 11, 2007. The convocation address was given by Bishop William H. Willimon of the United Methodist Church of Northern Alabama. The Founders Day Luncheon and Alumni Association Awards Presentation followed, in Dunigan Hall. The award recipients honored in 2007 are:
Distinguished Alumnus Award - R. Martin Umbarger '69
Distinguished Young Alumna Award - Holly (Collier) Marks '96
Samuel Orr Honorary Alumni Award - Stephen and Sally Jennings
Edie Bates Volunteer Service Award - Sue (O'Keefe) Hodapp '82

FOUNDERS DAY 2006The University's 2006 Founders Day service and luncheon were held Sunday, February 12, 2006. The annual convocation was held in Neu Chapel, and Alumni Association Awards were presented at the Founders Day Luncheon following the service. The Alumni Award recipients for 2006 were:

Distinguished Young Alumnus Award - No award was presented
Samuel Orr Honorary Alumni Award - Niel and Karen Ellerbrook
Edie Bates Volunteer Service Award - Curran Cotton '57

FOUNDERS DAY 2005The University's sesquicentennial celebration closed following the Founders Day festivities on Sunday, February 13, 2005. The annual convocation was held in Neu Chapel at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Jennings speaking on his vision for UE. Immediately following, the Alumni Association Awards were presented at the Founders Day Luncheon. 2005's Alumni Award recipients were:

Samuel Orr Honorary Alumnus Award - Frank F. Hirschman
Distinguished Young Alumnus Award - David T. Bertorello '89

FOUNDERS DAY 2004
The University celebrated its 150th Founders Day on Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the Founders Day Convocation. Following the convocation the Alumni Association sponsored a luncheon honoring five individuals for their achievements and contributions. This year's recipients of the annual Alumni Association awards are as follows:
Distinguished Alumnus Award - Larrry Mackey '73
Now an attorney in private practice, Mackey earned the Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Service, the U.S. Department of Justice's highest award, for his work on the prosecution teams in the Oklahoma City bombing cases.
Young Alumna Award - Sharon Grandberry '97
While continuing her education and earning dual master's degrees, Grandberry also established a career as a consultant with Mariner Health Care and is a part of the national Youth to Leaders program.
Samuel Orr Honorary Alumni Award - Sharon and Burkley McCarthy
The McCarthy's are longtime UE supporters. Currently Sharon serve as a University trustee. Burkley is president of Fendrich Industries Inc.
Edie Bates Volunteer Service Award - Jerry Linzy '66
A longtrime active alumnus, Linzy was instrumental is raising the necessary funds to endow the Thomas C. Fiddick Memorial Lecture series in memory of history professor Tom Fiddick.

Distinguished Alumni Award - The Distinguished Alumni Award was established by the Alumni Association Board of Directors in 1990. This is the highest honor which the Association can bestow upon an alumnus/a. The award recognizes an individual's achievements in his/her professional field, service to his/her community and exceptional leadership and service to the University.
Distinguished Young Alumni Award - The Distinguished Young Alumni Award was established in 1997. This honor is presented to an alumnus/a under the age of 40 who has made significant strides in his/her personal and professional development and who has demonstrated service to the University and his/her community.
Samuel Orr Honorary Alumni Award - This award was established in 1971 as the Honorary Alumni Award; in 1997, the award was renamed in honor of Dr. Samuel Orr. Dr. Orr served the University as a trustee for 59 years. This award recognizes a non-alumnus/a for his/her personal and professional accomplishments and service to the University. It is the highest honor the Association can bestow upon a non-alumnus.
Edie Bates Alumni Volunteer Service Award - The Edie Bates Alumni Volunteer Service Award was established in 1998. The award is named in honor of Edie Bates'42, a University trustee. This award was established to recognize an alumnus/a for his/her exemplary volunteer service to his/her community and the University.
