History Spring Lecture Welcomes Harlaxton College’s David Green

Posted: Tuesday, March 19, 2013

The University of Evansville’s Department of History is pleased to announce the annual History Spring Lecture, featuring David Green, lecturer in history and British studies at Harlaxton College.

Green will present “The English Empire in the Later Middle Ages” at 4 p.m. this Thursday, March 21. The lecture will be held in Eykamp Hall in the Ridgway University Center on UE’s campus. It is free and open to the public.

The lecture represents an integral part of Green’s ongoing research that explores colonial practices and attitudes at work in the dominions of the later medieval English monarchy, a period of fundamental change in the construction of the English nation.

Green has published four articles on this topic in international peer-reviewed journals and essay collections, including the Journal of British Studies and the Journal of Historical Sociology. In July, he will discuss his research at the Harlaxton Medieval Symposium, an international conference at Harlaxton College.

Green holds a PhD and Master of Arts from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Exeter. Before joining the British Studies team at Harlaxton College in 2007, he lived and worked in England, Scotland, and Ireland, lecturing at the University of Sheffield, University of St. Andrews, and Trinity College Dublin.
