The U.S. Veterans Magazine Names UE a Top Veteran-Friendly School

Posted: Thursday, August 21, 2014

In the summer issue of the U.S. Veterans Magazine (USVM), now on newsstands, the University of Evansville was recognized as a Top Veteran-Friendly School on the magazines 2014 Best of the Best Lists. UE was the only private university in Indiana, and one of only two colleges in the state, to receive this distinction

The annual review conducted by USVM is an evaluation of the nation’s educational institutions, as well as employers, initiatives and government agencies. According to the magazine, the nonbiased studies and lists were the result of market research, independent research, diversity conference participation and survey responses that were performed by DiversityComm’s agents and/or affiliates.

Says Cherie Leonhardt, coordinator for UE’s Office of Veterans Affairs, “Because of our focus on being a top military-friendly university, we are honored to be recognized by The U.S. Veterans Magazine. The University works very hard to support ROTC cadets, current service members, veterans and their families.”

Adds Leonhardt, “This new recognition is one of several military-friendly related rankings UE has received since partnering with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in 2009 to offer the Post 9/11 GI Bill Yellow Ribbon Award, worth full-tuition to eligible veterans and their dependents."
