Andiron Lectures for Coming Year Announced

The University of Evansville’s annual Andiron Lecture Series begins September 3 with UE Assistant Professor of History Robin Sager speaking on “A Kind of Hell Upon Earth: Marital Cruelty in Antebellum America.” All the lectures are at 4 p.m. in Room 252 in Eykamp Hall in Ridgway University Center on UE’s campus. A social hour with beverages precedes each lecture at 3:45 p.m. All the lectures are free and open to the public.
Other lectures in this year’s series include:
? October1: “Should School Curriculum Be Cathartic?” – Paul Parkison, UE associate professor and chair of the School of Education
? November 5: “Why Smart Money Is Investing in Early Childhood Education” – Jennifer Drake, UE graduate and president and CEO of 4C of Southern Indiana
? December 3: “Mixed: Misunderstanding the Hybrid Phenomena” – LaNeeca Williams, UE diversity and equity officer
? February 4: “Can Plants and Bacteria Think?” – Derek Jones, UE assistant professor of philosophy
? March 4: “The Antithesis of Justice” – Matthew Hummel, UE alum and paralegal for the Vanderburgh County Public Defender Agency
? April 1: “Finnegans Wake: How to Read” – Robert Baines, UE assistant professor of English
