Department of Nursing Launches RN-to-BSN Program
Published: May 15, 2009
The University of Evansville is excited to announce a new opportunity for registered nurses looking for a leg up in their careers.
The UE Department of Nursing will launch its RN to BSN program this summer, allowing nurses with a two-year RN degree to attend UE part-time and earn their Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. The program will give credit for the two years of education required for the RN degree, offering students advanced placement toward UE’s Bachelor of Science for Nursing.
Classes in the program will begin in June.
"Increasingly, hospitals like St. Mary’s and Deaconess are expecting nurses to earn a Bachelor’s Degree before allowing them to advance into administrative roles," said Lynn Penland, dean of UE’s College of Education & Health Sciences. "For that reason, we’ve heard a strong demand from the nursing community for a user-friendly program like this – a program that will allow nurses who already are working full-time to get the education and training they need to take that next step in their career.
"UE’s RN to BSN program offers the opportunity to get the best available nursing education and training in a supportive, flexible environment."
In addition to meeting general academic guidelines required for admission to the University of Evansville, the RN to BSN program requires the following for admission:
* Completed transfer admission application indicating a desire to study
nursing
* Unencumbered current U.S. registered nurse license
*
Graduate from state-approved diploma or associate's degree nursing

* Minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.5
* Once enrolled,
all students in the RN to BSN program will receive UE’s special Adult
