Princeton Review Names UE Among Best in Midwest

Published: July 31, 2009

The University of Evansville is among the Midwest’s best colleges and universities, according to the Princeton Review.

In a Web feature posted this week, the education services company – which annually ranks the nation’s best colleges and universities – named UE among the top colleges in the 12-state region. The designation does not come with a numerical ranking; best colleges and universities simply are listed in alphabetical order.

The listings can be found at www.princetonreview.com.

"We chose the University of Evansville and the other terrific schools we recommend as our 'regional best' colleges primarily for their excellent academic programs,” said Robert Franek, Princeton Review's V.P. of Publishing. “We also work to have our roster of 'regional best' colleges feature a range of institutions by size, selectivity, character and locale. We choose the schools based on institutional data we collect from several hundred schools in each region, our visits to schools over the years, and the opinions of independent and high school-based college advisors whose recommendations we invite.

“We also take into account what each school’s customers – their students – report to us about their campus experiences at them on our 80-question student survey."

The Princeton Review survey for this project asks students to rate their own schools on several issues -- from the accessibility of their professors to quality of the campus food -- and answer questions about themselves, their fellow students, and their campus life. Actual comments from surveyed students pepper each Princeton Review college profile on its site.

“At the University of Evansville, we strive to offer our students the best education possible,” said UE President Stephen Jennings. “Being named among the Midwest’s best colleges and universities by the Princeton Review is something we’re tremendously proud of, because it indicates that our students truly are receiving the top-tier education they’ve come to expect from the University of Evansville.”
