University sets aside $10 million for residence hall renovations

Work will begin this summer on the $10 million project to renovate several existing University residence halls. "Hale, Morton, Brentano, and Moore Halls will receive significant improvements and upgrades which will provide a more modern environment reflecting the needs of today's college students," said Dana Clayton, vice president of student affairs and dean of students. Hughes Hall will be renovated in common areas.

Work planned in the four residence halls includes new furniture and refurbishing of common spaces, student rooms and lobbies, as well as restroom upgrades. Moore Hall will receive air conditioning as part of the project. The University is currently in the process of working with design and engineering teams to finalize the renovation project which will take place over a period of three summers.

The University also offers three newer halls which will not receive significant renovations at this time: Schroeder Hall, which was built in 1995; Powell Hall, which was built in 1993; and North Hall, which opened in 2005.
