UE Theatre presents That Scoundrel Scapin Scapin will open Friday, February 15, in Evansville's Shanklin Theatre. Scapin is a slapstick-filled masterpiece of the French Commedia dell' Arte. This rollicking story follows the high jinks of a crafty servant and the ruses he implements to alleviate his master's romantic dilemma. The age-old turmoil of fathers and sons arguing over love and money provokes the scoundrel to spin a stupendous yarn of kidnapping, strangers, and ransom demands. Greediness serves as an apt dagger for the deceitful rogue. The story spirals once again to finally expose the truth and allow Cupid's arrow to hit upon the guileless pair of lovers. Scapin is directed by guest artist David Colacci. Ridgway University Center The University of Evansville's Ridgway University Center continues to take shape. The Center, a 90,000 square foot building, is scheduled to open in December 2008. The building will house dining facilities, convenience store, University Bookstore, lounges and recreational areas, coffee bar, newspaper, yearbook, and radio station offices, student life offices, and a 500-seat auditorium.
