Road Trip Fun

Nearly 300 students particpated in Road Trip 2008

The 22nd annual University of Evansville Road Trip saw close to 300 students experience college life. Road Trip attracted students from all over the country, including Alaska, California, Maryland, and New York. Students attending Road Trip came from 23 states.

During the weekend, students were able to attend Greek functions, go to religious life activities, watch the theatre performance of That Scoundrel Scapin, eat in the campus dining hall, stay in the residence halls, participate in mock classes, and select special interest sessions to learn more about everything from athletics to publications. "This event, more than anything other colleges offer, gives students a real life perspective of college life at the University of Evansville," said Adrian San Miguel, admission counselor.

If you missed Road Trip, you still have plenty of time to visit campus. Schedule your private visit, or register for an upcoming Open House.

University strengthens commitment to International Baccalaureate program

After an intensive faculty review of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, the University has created a new $1,000 scholarship for students who graduate from high school with an IB diploma. This scholarship would be in addition to any other merit-based awards earned by the students.

"The IB Diploma program is a comprehensive and challenging pre-university course of study that demands the best from highly motivated students and teachers," said Thomas Bear, UE vice president for enrollment services. "We want to encourage students to pursue such rigorous academic programs like the IB course work, and we feel that those who do deserve to be recognized for their hard work."

To learn more about this scholarship, contact your admission counselor or e-mail the Office of Admission at admission@evansville.edu.

The Freshman Edge

The Freshman Edge is a unique 10-day program designed for incoming freshmen. The Edge, a residential program, gives students a chance to experience residence hall life and make friends before classes begin in the fall.

During Freshman Edge, you will meet many University of Evansville faculty members and community leaders in Evansville. Students will study The American Corporation (three-hour course), which will fulfill their "American Traditions" requirement for General Education. Managerial tours will be included of local businesses. This program allows students to ask questions, seek answers, make connections, and explore campus before the fall semester begins.

A few of the fun events include: BBQs, Evansville Otters Baseball, Ice Skating, Putt-Putt Challenge, Cincinnati Cornhole Competition, Volleyball, Pizza Trips, and more.
