Preparing for fall

As summer approaches, many incoming University of Evansville students are beginning to prepare for moving into their residence hall. Students who have returned their housing contract will receive the name of their residence hall and roommate in late July. The Office of Residence Life matches roommates based on the survey completed with the housing contract. Any students wishing to room together may note that on their contract or contact residence life.

UE Team Places in Top 25 percent nationally

A team of mechanical engineering students from the University of Evansville participated in the Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) competition at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan, May 14-18, 2008. The team finished 30th out of 120 teams from all over the world. "Over the last four years, the Formula SAE team has made great strides," stated Ian McGiffen, team member. "In 2005 we finished 109th, and this year we are 30th. We know we still have significant room for improvement and are looking forward to next year's competition."

What is FSAE?
The Formula SAE® competition is for SAE student members to conceive, design, fabricate, and compete with small formula-style racing cars. The restrictions on the car frame and engine are limited so that the knowledge, creativity, and imagination of the students are challenged. The cars are built with a team effort over a period of about one year and are taken to the annual competition for judging and comparison with approximately 120 other vehicles from colleges and universities throughout the world. The end result is a great experience for young engineers in a meaningful engineering project as well as the opportunity of working in a dedicated team effort. Work Continues on Ridgway University Center

Interior work on the Ridway University Center continues. The University Board of Trustees recently toured the interior of the building. Photos from the tour can be found on the University of Evansville's Web site. Click here to view photographs.

The University Center is an exciting addition to UE's campus as it will provide a place for students, faculty, and alumni to congregate. The building will house all student life offices as well as dining facilities, student publications, the radio station, bookstore, and convenience store. Features will include a coffee shop, water feature, e-mail lounges, laptops for students to checkout, a big screen TV, foosball, and pool tables.

To see the progress of the University Center, visit the University's Web site.
