With majors and minors available in both archaeology and art history, the University of Evansville offers a variety of options for students interested in material and visual culture. Evansville’s archaeology major focuses on the discipline of archaeology itself and on the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean and adjacent areas in western and northern Europe. The art history major offers a wider chronological scope, but is particularly strong in the area of ancient art.
Here are four great reasons to major in archaeology or art history at the University of Evansville:
-
Travel the world — you can study abroad at such programs as Harlaxton College, our campus in England, College Year in Athens, or the Intercollegiate Studies Center in Rome.
-
Gain hands-on experience while abroad — students can travel to an excavation site in Murlo, Italy...
-
...Or at home — our students study Tin City, an on-campus excavation site, which housed UE students during World War II.
-
Prepare for your future — many of our students have local internships at places such as the Evansville Museum of Arts, History, and Science and Angel Mounds State Historic Site.
