Harlaxton College Receives Gift to Restore Tower Clock

Posted: Thursday, November 14, 2024

The University of Evansville and Harlaxton College are delighted to announce a generous gift from Dr. Mark ’99 and Melanie Henderson to restore the chimes of the Tower Clock at Harlaxton.

Mark, who attended Harlaxton in the fall of 1997 and currently serves on the Harlaxton Society Board, has a deep connection to the college. When Dr. Holly Carter, Executive Director and Dean of Harlaxton College, raised the issue of the clock's chimes needing repair during a Harlaxton Society board meeting, the Hendersons were eager to contribute.

The couple was thrilled to support Harlaxton, a place that holds significant meaning for them. With encouragement from his parents, their son attended Harlaxton in summer 2023, and Mark and Melanie visited him there. Initially hesitant, their son had an incredible experience, describing it as a pivotal moment in his life that positively influenced him. During their visit, the Hendersons stayed at The Greg and enjoyed a guided tour of the manor.

We are pleased to say the chimes have already been repaired and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to recognize and thank the Hendersons in July during the alumni trip.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mark and Melanie Henderson for their generosity, which will enhance the Harlaxton experience for all students.
