Amy Hall, University of Evansville Nursing Department chair and professor of nursing, has received the Red Cross Hero of the Year Award along with other members of the Disaster Action Team. The award was given on May 15.

The Disaster Action Team deals with calamities ranging from single family fires to widespread disasters such as tornadoes and floods. Hall is on call 24 hours a day for Vanderburgh County and is available to assist in other counties when needed. She is responsible for assuring that disaster victims’ immediate medical and health needs are met. Hall also trains all UE senior nursing students in disaster health care and provides training to other health care providers who want to become disaster volunteers.
