University Registrar

Position Overview:

The Registrar and Director of Academic Support provides leadership for the Offices of the Registrar, Academic Advising and Retention and is part of the university’s academic leadership team. This full time position assures that academic policy and standards are implemented related to course enrollment, matriculation, and graduation. The Registrar/Director position coordinates the tracking of student retention rates, and provides updates to various campus entities about barriers to student success as well as leads initiatives to improve student experience based on student feedback from department interactions in coordination with academic and non-academic departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs Academic Services, which includes Academic Advising, Retention, and Registrar services.
  • Ensures adherence to federal, state and institutional policy.
  • Tracks retention information; provides updates and action items to partners on campus.
  • Develops institutional policy.
  • Chairs and serves on various committees including: Student Success Team, Academic Cabinet, Academic Leadership Council, Graduate & Undergraduate Curriculum, Faculty Senate.
  • Serves as a Super User for Colleague Student module.
  • Collaborates with Admissions and Student Affairs for summer SOAR and Welcome Week activities.
  • Coordinates with admissions on enrollment tracking and supplemental campus visit coverage.
  • Provides oversight to development of academic support services such as peer tutoring and coaching.
  • Manages department budget.
  • Processes final degree audit for graduation eligibility.
  • Certifies and maintains academic compliance for NCAA Division I students

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a registrar's office or academic advising
  • Experience in higher education and academic advising
  • Knowledge of transcripts and transfer evaluation
  • Knowledge of academic structures and curricular models
  • Knowledge of FERPA and other federal regulations that apply to education and educational records
  • Able to use student information software and databases
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to supervise teams
  • Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of current retention best practices

Other Information:

  • Minimal travel is required
  • Occasional evening and weekend events are required
