Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs & Dean of Students

This full-time, hourly position provides professional administrative support to the Vice President for Student Affairs / Dean of Students. This includes assisting students and family members with personal issues that affect their educational goals/experiences at UE and referring them to the appropriate resources. This position has the opportunity to work directly with students as they navigate their housing experience with residence life, secure the internship and job of their dreams with the career center, and develop their leadership potential in student engagement. We also directly support students as they learn strategies to improve their wellbeing and thrive with our counseling and disability services staff, identify wellness activities with the recreation and fitness center staff, while also learning safe community practices with public safety, and the health center.

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide professional administrative support to the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students 
• Assist students in identifying helpful resources to address concerns reported to the office
• Work collaboratively with other departments across the university on various projects and solutions to student concerns
• Manage database, reports, and correspondence related to student conduct hearings, honor code violations, and medical leaves of absence under the direction of the VPSA/Dean of Students
• Manage the VPSA/Dean of Students calendar and delegate relevant concerns to other offices as appropriate
• Serve as a key member of the professional development committee for the division
• Arrange divisional events and activities for the Division of Student Affairs
• Oversee budget processes and purchasing for the office
• Assist in new student and family orientation 
• Serve on university committees
• Provide family members and students as a first point of contact for direction in dealing with personal issues that affect their educational goals or experience
• Liaise with the office of admission, registrar, student financial services, technology services, housing, and public safety as it relates to student services and support

Qualifications:

A successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.  The ability to exercise good judgment, make independent decisions, maintain confidentiality, and be resourceful are paramount to the success of this position.  A positive and professional attitude is essential for this position.

Suggested start date: between August 18 - September 18 (this date is flexible)
Hours: 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday
