Assistant Registrar and Retention Coordinator

Position Overview

This position supports the mission of the office of Academic Services and the University of Evansville by working directly with the student population to review, update and advise students as they near the completion of their degree.  Meets with students in academic distress, advises students on degree completion issues.  

Responsibilities Include

  • The review of Junior and Senior degree audits ensures potential issues that may prevent students from graduating in the ideal four-year time frame can be addressed and resolved. This position tracks substitutions, waivers, and transfer to ensure student degree audits are correct for ease of advising and student review.
  • This position creates, updates and maintains the lists for each graduation cycle(five per year) and is primarily responsible for the organization of commencement.  Supports new student orientation and transfer orientation.
  • Developing and maintaining the degree audit system is critical to retention efforts and this position works with the Associate Registrar to oversee this process. 
  • Supports the Manager of Retention by helping to develop programming, identifying students in potential academic distress, and maintain contact with students who are on a leave of absence, or who could return to finish their degree. In addition, works with the Manager of Retention to follow up with students during Registration who are un/under-registered, and during the first week of registration to identify and correct registration errors. 


One year minimum in higher education or registrar work is preferred.
