Project SafeSpace Program Coordinator

The University of Evansville is seeking a Project SafeSpace Program Coordinator to oversee and manage the Project SafeSpace initiative. This program is funded by a grant from the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women and aims to raise awareness, reduce occurrences, and provide resources related to sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking (SADVST).

 Primary Responsibilities:

- Program Administration: Coordinate the Project SafeSpace program and its initiatives aimed at preventing SADVST through advocacy, training, educational programming, and campus-wide outreach.

- Campus and Community Collaboration: Work closely with various campus and community partners to develop and implement educational and outreach programs related to SADVST.

- Community Response Team Coordination: Lead the Community Response Team, comprised of campus and community members, to evaluate ongoing project efforts and address the specific needs of historically marginalized populations.

- Student Advisory Council: Support and coordinate efforts of a Student Advisory Council made up of survivors of SADVST and students from diverse backgrounds, including those who are LGBTQ+, international students, students with disabilities, and others interested in advocacy.

- Grant Administration: Serve as the grant administrator and primary liaison between the University and the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women.

- Program Evaluation: Oversee and conduct evaluation and reporting on program efforts to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with project goals.

 Qualifications:

- Master's degree in education, mental health counseling, social work, public health, student affairs, or related field is preferred. Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in a related field required.

- Relevant Experience: Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:

   - Service to individuals impacted by SADVST.

   - Grant administration experience, especially with federal or state grants.

   - Working with diverse populations including LGBTQ+, persons with disabilities, and international students.

   - Educational outreach and programming on topics such as public health or community-based interventions.

   - Program evaluation related to SADVST prevention and response.

   - Understanding of public health issues affecting a community and their intersection with SADVST.

- Knowledge of:

   - Primary prevention principles related to SADVST.

   - The psychological impact of trauma and its implications for advocacy.

   - Best practices for SADVST prevention on a college campus.

   - Federal and state legislation related to SADVST prevention and response.
