Grant Accountant – Evansville Promise Neighborhood
The Evansville Promise Neighborhood (EPN) is a collaborative initiative that brings together the University of Evansville, Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, E-REP, The Dream Center, Ivy Tech Community College, and more to provide comprehensive cradle-to-career support services for children and families in the EPN. The initiative serves twelve census tracts and six schools, ensuring that community members receive the evidence-based services they need for long-term success.
We are seeking a Grant Accountant to oversee financial administration and compliance for grants supporting the EPN’s programs and initiatives. This role is essential in ensuring that funds are properly managed, reported, and aligned with federal, state, local, and private funding regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Management & Compliance
- Provide financial oversight for all EPN grant funding from award to close-out, ensuring compliance with government, program, and University regulations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of various grants, funding agencies, and compliance guidelines, ensuring adherence to all requirements.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and financial tracking tools to monitor grant expenditures and ensure timely reporting.
- Assist Program Directors, administrators, and other staff in proper grant implementation and fiscal responsibility.
- Act as a liaison to grant agencies when needed.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Collaborate with UE’s Fiscal Affairs Office to ensure compliance with internal financial procedures.
- Track budget performance, monitor funding expenditures, and address discrepancies as they arise.
- Coordinate grant reporting efforts, compiling data from multiple partners into comprehensive reports.
- Schedule and facilitate grant kick-off meetings, ongoing administrative check-ins, and program review sessions.
- Assist in procurement and budget tracking by maintaining financial records and developing spreadsheet tools.
Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Work closely with UE’s Controller, the EVSC Grant Manager, Program Directors, and other stakeholders to align financial and programmatic goals.
- Develop strong relationships with external EPN partners to facilitate seamless grant administration.
- Participate in informative webinars, conference calls, and community meetings to stay updated on best practices and funding opportunities.
- Support the EPN Director in general grant accounting, reporting, and financial administration as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field.
Experience & Skills:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in grant accounting, financial administration, or a related role.
- Ability to compile and analyze data from multiple partners into comprehensive reports.
- Strong experience in budget management, compliance tracking, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict policies and deadlines.
- Experience working collaboratively with university administrators, faculty, federal and state officials, and community stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial databases, and online grant reporting systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
