The Creative Writing Program
The Department of Creative Writing is one of the few schools in the country with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree offering purposeful, hands-on experiences.
Beyond the Classroom
The Department of Creative Writing provides purposeful experiences outside of the classroom to prepare students for personal and professional success.
UE's creative writing faculty are prize-winning and widely published and committed to mentoring their students.
The Department of Creative Writing is one of the few schools in the country to offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in creative writing. Our innovative curriculum includes courses in genre fiction, screenwriting, creative nonfiction, and contemporary poetry, among others.
In addition, we offer students editing and publishing internships with nationally and internationally-recognized literary journals such as The Evansville Review and Measure. These hands-on experiences introduce students to the professional life of writers, editors, and publishers, preparing students for graduate school or careers as editors and publishers as they learn alongside prize-winning and widely-published faculty who are committed to building mentoring relationships and introducing students to the professional world of writing, editing, and publishing.
