Beyond the Classroom
The Department of Creative Writing provides purposeful experiences outside of the classroom to prepare students for personal and professional success.
UE's creative writing faculty are prize-winning and widely published and committed to mentoring their students.
Harlaxton Summer Writing Program
Creative writing students work with notable British and American writers during the Harlaxton Summer Writing Program.
The Department of Creative Writing is one of the few schools in the country to offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in creative writing. Our distinct program also offers students valuable hands-on experience through internships in editing and writing with The Evansville Review, The Ohio River Review, and Measure, as well as local publications such as Evansville Living. These opportunities prepare students for graduate school or careers as writing professionals as they learn alongside prize-winning and widely-published faculty who are committed to building mentoring relationships. Students will also find an innovative curriculum, with classes such as Writing Genre Fiction and Writing the Contemporary Novel, among others.
