Staff Vacancies

Dayshift/Weekend Radio/Telephone Operator

This is a full-time position in the Office of Safety & Security. It is responsible for providing information and communications to the general campus community, on-duty security personnel, and the general public. The duty hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday, and three 8 hour shifts during the week as assigned by the supervisor. The areas of responsibilities include:

Applicants must be able to work holidays. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to provide clear, intelligible responses to callers. The ability to handle stressful situations is essential. The ability to learn the proper use of telephone and base radio and above average computer skills is necessary.

Security Officer

This is a full time position working 40 hours/week.

The duties of a campus security office include all elements of general police work under the broad headings of protection, service, and enforcement. Protection is centered on keeping the campus clear of criminal elements and secure from predictable fire and other hazards. Enforcement covers both criminal law and university rules and regulations.

A full range of security duties are required that include foot and motor vehicle patrol: accident, criminal, and safety investigations; traffic and parking control; access control of buildings; and preparation of required reports for documentation.

Candidates must have the ability to deal effectively with, and communicate with people. One must be physically and mentally able to perform campus security work.

A high school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. Two years of police or security experience is desired.
