Honors and Moore Scholars Application Process
Students who wish to be considered for the Honors and Moore Scholars Programs will fill out the same application. Admissions decisions for the Honors Program will be based on that application. The Moore Scholars decision process will also include an on campus interview.
Application Due Date: November 1, 2025.
Application Requirements
Any incoming first-year students interested in becoming a UE Honors or John C. Moore Scholar will be required to upload the following items into the application portal:
- An Artifact that shows how the student embodies at least two Honors Scholar characteristics (curiosity, self-awareness, humility, empathy, resilience, and creativity). For example, the student might select an argumentative essay from a high school class, documentation of a service or creative project, a vision board expressing a personal viewpoint, a research proposal, or a changemaking idea. It could also be something we haven’t imagined.
- A brief Rationale (250 words) that answers these questions: Why did you choose this Artifact? What UE Honors Scholar characteristics does it demonstrate?
- A resume or list of activities.
John C. Moore Scholarship Interview Component
From the pool of Honors Scholar applications, select students will be invited to campus to interview for a Moore Scholar seat. The first round of interviews will take place at UE from 3 – 6 pm CT on Friday, November 21.
During the interview, students will speak with the selection committee about their application portfolio and participate in exercises designed to evaluate their communication and collaborative skills.
Admission Decision Notification
Decisions for both UE Honors and the John C. Moore Scholars Program will be released simultaneously no later than February 1 of any given year.
