Indiana College Core
What is the Indiana College Core (ICC)?
The Indiana College Core is a block of college-level, general education courses that high school students can complete. These courses are recognized by Indiana's public and select private universities to meet general education requirements.
How Can the ICC Help You at UE?
Depending on your major and career path, completing the ICC might help you:
- Get a head start on college, reducing stress and workload.
- Create flexibility to pursue a double major or minor.
- Participate in more experiences like study abroad and internships.
- Accelerate your path to graduation
What UE Requirements Does the ICC Meet?
To earn a bachelor's degree at UE, you must:
- Complete general education requirements.
- Meet your major's course requirements.
- Earn at least 120 total credit hours.
If you complete the ICC, you will have met UE's general education requirements, except for these signature courses that make a UE education truly distinctive:
- First-Year Seminar: A transformative first step into college life, this interactive course encourages deep discussions and sparks intellectual curiosity—all while connecting you with peers and professors at UE.
- Writing Across the Curriculum Requirement: This UE hallmark ensures you can express ideas clearly and communicate persuasively across disciplines—setting you up for success in any profession.
- Senior Capstone Course: This culminating experience challenges you to apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios and confidently step into your next chapter—whether that's a career or graduate school.
Courses from the ICC may count toward some major requirements, depending on the course and your grade. If you are transferring individual ICC courses, UE will evaluate them using standard transfer credit policies.
