Introduction
The Athletic Training program is designed for individuals seeking certification as an athletic trainer from the Board of Certification (BOC). This two-year program is open to students without a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. Participants will engage in didactic coursework, clinical skill development, and hands-on practical experience.
To fulfill clinical hours, students can choose from a variety of settings, including Division I and II intercollegiate athletics, high school athletics, hospitals, and physical therapy clinics. Additionally, students have the opportunity to conduct research in the Dunigan Movement Analysis Lab, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach grounded in evidence-based practices. Immersive, out-of-state clinical rotations are also available through partnerships with universities such as Vanderbilt University, University of Missouri, and University of Florida. Explore these exciting opportunities on our Clinical Rotations page.
In our Athletic Training program, you'll benefit from small student-to-faculty ratios, ensuring personalized attention and mentorship from dedicated faculty who are invested in your development throughout your training.
You can choose between two pathways to pursue your career in athletic training.
Start with our Pre-Athletic Training/Direct Entry or advance your skills through our graduate pathway.
The athletic training program is part of the School of Health Sciences.
Applications for the program are submitted through the Athletic Training Centralized Application Systems (ATCAS). Be sure to submit your application by 12:00 p.m. on January 1 for the priority deadline.
