Assistant Softball Coach

The University of Evansville is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Softball Coach to join our athletic department. This role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our NCAA softball program while fostering the personal and athletic development of our student-athletes.

Position Overview

The Assistant Softball Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to support all aspects of the University’s softball program. This includes practice preparation, scouting, recruiting, and administrative duties. The successful candidate will embody a commitment to excellence both on and off the field while upholding University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and conducting practices, training sessions, and game strategies.
  • Scout opponents and evaluate potential recruits to build a competitive team.
  • Provide mentorship to student-athletes to foster academic and athletic success.
  • Collaborate with other staff, faculty, and administrators to promote the softball program.
  • Support the program’s compliance with NCAA, conference, and University policies.
  • Carry out administrative tasks as directed by the Head Coach.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of softball fundamentals and rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse groups, including coaches, student-athletes, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to obtain or possess current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Preferred:

  • Previous coaching or college-level playing experience.
  • Experience with recruiting and scouting at the collegiate level.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and travel as required.
