Assistant Director, Facilities Management and Planning
The University of Evansville is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director, Facilities Management and Planning to join our team. This key role oversees grounds maintenance, landscaping, fleet services, small construction projects, and waste management across our main campus, residence halls, athletic areas, and additional University properties. The Assistant Director will also play a pivotal role in strategic planning, capital improvement projects, and sustainability efforts, ensuring our campus remains a safe, attractive, and functional environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision – Direct and manage teams responsible for grounds maintenance, irrigation, fleet services, small engine repair, and waste/recycling operations.
- Operations Management – Oversee campus snow removal, trash disposal planning, vehicle fleet maintenance, and landscape construction projects.
- Project & Budget Management – Assist with cost estimates, project design, contract negotiations, and budgeting for long-term maintenance and capital improvements.
- Strategic Planning – Develop and execute a comprehensive landscape master plan, ensuring alignment with the University’s sustainability and beautification goals.
- Safety & Compliance – Maintain compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental best practices while fostering a culture of safety among staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management, Horticulture, Arboriculture, Facilities Management, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience managing grounds, landscaping, or facilities teams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and database management tools.
- Knowledge of facility maintenance, repair practices, mechanical systems, and financial management in a campus or institutional setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
