Introduction
Currently, the electricity for the Rosa-Bell school in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico comes from the standard grid that Puerto Rico runs on. This grid lost power after the hurricane and due to the power being lost, the school was out of session for several months. In this time, the students should have been studying and learning, the lack of power was a detriment to the students. As such, we are raising money or materials through donation so that we can put up the necessary solar panels so that the school is no longer reliant on the power grid.
We are excited at the prospect of bettering the conditions for the students, as they will be able to study in the case of the power grid failing and the electricity that will be generated by the solar panels will save the school approximately $5,000 dollars a month. This money can go to new programs, new classroom supplies, and an overall improvement of the school for the students. This will also help the community, as the community in the immediate surrounding area is invested in the school and will also benefit from our project. This project hits close to home as several members of our team have coaches who went to Rosa-Bell, and this school is important to them. Because of our close relationship with the coaches, the Rosa-Bell school was chosen. We would appreciate any form of donation that you are able to give and in donating something, you are positively impacting the lives of the students of the Rosa-Bell school.
