Director of Alumni and Engagement

Position Overview:

The Director of Alumni and Engagement provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the alumni and engagement programs at the University of Evansville. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive programs, events, messaging and solicitation campaigns aimed at increasing volunteerism and connections with UE alumni, parents, current students, friends and other UE constituents. Additionally, the Director is responsible for directing the overall messaging and communication strategy for the University’s 32,000 plus alumni and oversees the annual giving operation for annual restricted and unrestricted giving at UE. The Director of Alumni and Engagement reports directly to the Vice President of University Advancement. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide direct supervision and direction to the areas of alumni engagement and annual giving that is currently a team of five people. 
  • Ensure the successful planning, execution and assessment of alumni volunteer and engagement events, programs, and initiatives including but not limited to:  Homecoming, Reunion Weekends, Alumni Awards, President’s Club events and campaigns such as “Pep and Vim,” UE’s annual day of giving. 
  • Oversee and manage key volunteer boards including the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Harlaxton Society Board of Directors.
  • Develop and oversee a variety of fundraising programs to increase both annual unrestricted and restricted dollars, including athletics annual giving.  
  • Strategize and manage a comprehensive Annual Fund program with a goal of generating $1 million in annual unrestricted giving. 
  • Meet or exceed quarterly goals for retention of donors, acquisition of new donors and dollars secured. 
  • Collaborate with the University’s Marketing Office to help ensure and contribute to the vibrant production of the UE magazine with a focus on positioning engagement and fundraising strategies throughout. 
  • Oversee regular communication with UE and Harlaxton alumni, including e-newsletters and printed materials, social media and more. 
  • Supervise the continued maintenance and development of the University Advancement, giving, event, and FORWARD>> campaign webpages. 
  • Ensure the successful coordination of alumni trips to Harlaxton as needed.
  • Oversee and supervise the budgets and marketing plans of the Office of Alumni and Engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of University Advancement.

Qualifications:

Seeking a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of relationship building, annual giving fundraising campaigns, mass marketing, and communications. Three years or more overseeing alumni relations and/or annual giving in the higher education setting with a good understanding of private higher education administration and operations is preferred. Requires bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.  Experience managing a team and managing an annual budget is important.
